Ocosta Student Nutrition Team Recognized by ESD 113 Board

The Ocosta School District’s Student Nutrition Program recently received a Celebration recognition from the ESD 113 Board for its creative efforts to expand meal participation and bring new opportunities to students.

A mobile breakfast cart at Ocosta Elementary and smoothies at the Jr./Sr. High School have helped dramatically increase the number of students eating breakfast at school. These options make breakfast more convenient and appealing, helping students begin their day ready to learn.

The program is also growing—literally! Hydroponic towers are being used to grow herbs, and an additional tower, currently on loan to the district, will allow the team to grow larger produce items.

Behind these efforts is Food Service Director Shana Bradley, who has served Ocosta for more than 13 years. Shana worked as a cook before moving into the director position, bringing firsthand experience and a commitment to serving students.

This recognition also celebrates kitchen staff members Jessica, Ina, Kathryn, and Teri. Their daily work and willingness to try new ideas help make these improvements possible.

Thank you to our entire student nutrition team for caring for our students and helping them thrive!
