The Ocosta School District Board of Directors is announcing a vacancy for Director Position 1. In accordance with district policy, the Board is seeking qualified community members who are interested in serving in this important leadership role.

The Board will accept applications from any eligible resident of Director District 1 who is a United States citizen and a registered voter residing within the Ocosta School District and the appropriate director district. District 1 is the City Limits of Westport, WA. A map of the district is available at the district office.

Application Process

As outlined in district procedure, the Board is committed to encouraging broad community participation in the appointment process. Interested community members are invited to submit their name or nominate another qualified individual for consideration.

After receiving nominations:

  • Each nominee will receive a summary of board member responsibilities and will be asked to provide a short biographical statement and description of their interest in serving.

  • The Board will review and screen nominees in accordance with Procedure 1115P.

  • Selected candidates will be invited to participate in an interview during an open public meeting, as required by Washington State law.

The Board will appoint the candidate who, in the judgment of at least three Board members, is best able to support the district’s mission and contribute to effective governance.

Term of Service

The appointed director will serve until the next regularly scheduled Board election, at which point the remaining unexpired term, if any, will be placed on the ballot.
