Ocosta High School is proud to announce that senior Madeline Schaeffer, a lifelong Ocosta student, has been accepted to the Harvard University class of 2029. Schaeffer, who began her education at Ocosta in kindergarten, is a standout student, leader, and community contributor whose achievements have earned national and international recognition.

Madeline is the daughter of James and Susan Schaeffer of Grayland, Washington. Her journey through the Ocosta School District has been marked by academic excellence, leadership, and a deep commitment to service. Madeline has maintained a 4.0 GPA all through high school. She currently serves as a student representative on the Ocosta School Board, is a member of the National Honor Society, and an ambassador for the Association of Washington Student Leaders. Throughout her time in high school, she has held several leadership positions, including class president.

In addition to her leadership, Madeline is an award-winning writer and published poet. Her work has been recognized by organizations, including the Poetry Society, Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and the Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest. Her poetry will appear in the forthcoming issue of West Trade Review, and she has participated in select writing programs such as the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio.
